History

Kampot pepper was extremely popular in the top French and European restaurants for this bespoke pepper before the devastation of the Khmer Rouge. Obviously during the Khmer Rouge and in the civil unrest that followed this industry was wiped out. Now with the reconstruction of Cambodia, the farmers have returned and there is renewed interest in France and Europe. The French and Europeans love it and comprise of most of the demand. We are securing supplies for the Australian market and bringing the flavour of Kampot Pepper to Australia.

 Where Kampot Pepper comes from

Kampot pepper comes from  a small province in Cambodia called Kampot. It is a several hour drive from Cambodia. On the map it looks like a short distance, but you must take into account the local road conditions and meandering cows and carts.

Kampot is actually very close to the coast and is a neighbor of a very beautiful and virtually untouched and unknown coastal “town” called Kep. When you drive along in Kep you can still see the European mansions which have been left derelict that bear the scars of the Khmer Rouge, but it is easy to just imagine how they would look in their former glory. Kep is just stunning and it is right across from Rabbit Island, a true secluded island paradise.
